Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving! This year, to do something new and different, we purchased a Pre-Cooked Goose from Shiltz Farms in South Dakota (see them at http://www.roastgoose.com/). Although one can purchase an uncooked (frozen) goose from them, this Pre-Cooked one is a new item (it also is shipped and delivered frozen), and it takes all the hard work out of enjoying a goose for a holiday meal. No brine soaking, no heavy fat removal, no smoking oven (because of the fat) etc. etc. and unlike all the work Mrs. Bob Cratchett (spelling?) has to do, one simply takes the frozen goose from the freezer, remove the outer wrappings, place it (still frozen) on a rack in a roasting pan (putting approximately 1/2-inch of water in the roasting pan (to help prevent the oven from smoking--mine didn't smoke at all), put it in a preheated 375 degree oven, let it cook for around 1-1/2 hours (it's really just defrosting and coming up to the proper temperature), then the little pop-up gadget lets the cooker know it's done and ready to eat, and voila!, it goes on the table, ready to carve and eat.

As the cooking queen of Food Network says . . . Yummo!

Then, after a wonderful dinner, after the cleanup is done, Puddy Tat helps put the dishes away.
